What is love?
We can take a good guess at what love is. Love is our spouses, our families, our friends and even our pets. We love our houses, our cars, our clothes and maybe even our jobs. We love music and movies, books and our smart phones. We love pizza!
Love has become a word that is used so often, we've watered down it's meaning. What about loving those that are not so easy to love?
You see, God tells us to not only love our family and friends, but he challenges us to love our enemies. To even go as far as to pray for our enemies. Got ya, there! Didn't He?
Love is not easy. Love is not a feeling. Love is a choice. It is making a decision to continue to Love ... no matter what. To love so much, that you would even sacrifice your life -- not only for those you love and who love you in return, but even for those who reject you and persecute you. Sound familiar?
That is what LOVE is.
In the words of St. Paul to the Corinthians,
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
I love these verses! They speaks volumes and volumes on what LOVE really is!
